The Nigerian National Committee for the United World Colleges was established in 1982. It was registered in 1995 as a non-governmental and non-profit organization no. CAC/6/INST/8471. The objectives for which the Committee is established are as follows:

  1. To represent and co-ordinate all the activities in Nigeria of the International Council and International Board of Directors of the United World Colleges.

  2. To develop and maintain good relationship with all the Ministries of Education in Nigeria.

  3. To select Nigerian candidates for the United World Colleges.

  4. To work closely with Nigeria Diplomatic missions abroad and the Foreign Diplomatic Missions in Nigeria to effect good and free flow of information as may be required to facilitate the discharge of the Committee’s duties.

  5. To generate adequate publicity in Nigeria for the United World Colleges to enable it attain its objective.

  6. To consider and establish, wherever feasible, a United World College in Nigeria.

  7. To undertake in Nigeria, any other collateral venture in the interest of the International Council and International Board of Directors of the United World Colleges.
