History of UWC NIGERIA
The Nigerian National Committee (NNC) was formed in 1982, 20 years after UWC was founded by the German educationist, Kurt Hahn. Prior to the establishment of the NNC, the British Council organised the selection of candidates for UWC colleges.
Presently, Mr. Akintola Williams CBE, OFR is the National Patron while Mr. Hakeem Belo-Osagie (an alumnus of the UWC of Atlantic, Wales, U.K) is the National Chairman. The members of the National Committee are volunteers who have proven their mettle in different fields and are willing to contribute to the development of the UWC philosophy in Nigeria.
